Workshop Closure

As of 1st of April the workshop on Shacklewell lane will be closing.
It is a huge shame to lose it and it is completely out of my hands.

I am currently looking for somewhere else.. if any body knows of anything please get in touch.

It'll be on the fifteenth of november, in London Fields and will include:

The Great Big Fluffy Cat
a race for people who don't race, a race for people who do race but have NEVER won.

Track Stand Stare Down
A track stand competition and a staring contest all in one. First to blink or put a foot down looses, winner moves on to the next round

The 6 For A Fiver, Mate
Can you say team beer sprints? I knew you could! You will need to form a team of three for this, so start practising your chugging and riding skills with your two best mates.

Meet at london fields at one, it'll be a jam packed day of AWESOMENESS!!!!

Prizes will be by TEAM TOTALLY AWESOME, because corporate sponsorship isn't awesome. Although you should buy everything that House of Pistard has ever made, cause it's cool and it keeps Xander off the streets and away from small children.

It's £5 for a whole day of fun, plus we'll hole up in a bar somewhere after (a bar with kareoke, hopefully!) after. Don't forget it's £10 for ADBC members, due to their general lack of awesomeness.

New Frame!

My new frame is nearly here.
It is a low profile frame, nice and tight rear end made from columbus tubing. It is being built by Max at MonkeyHouse.
More info on Max's frames soon, but expect something very different to the norm and all from a workshop in East London.

Polo Bikes!!

I have about 8 mountain bike frames, handlebars, cheap cranks etc for possible polo bike conversion.
There are also a load of random wheels to go with the bikes, 26" of course. Though the condition of those are far from good, stripped axles, bent rims and broken spokes etc.
I tried a few out and it appears that most of them have clearance for 700c wheels with tyres.
So if you have a polo wheelset, plug that in, add a chain and you are pretty much set to go.

These are all the remnants of xsheepx's bulk ebay buy a few months ago.
We have finally got sick of seeing them in the back yard (well actually about two months ago) so they are free to a good home, bad home, any home, we don't really give a crap.

The remaining bikes will probably go to Max for all his bikepunx projects... tall bikes etc etc.

i am here tonight and tomorrow. Might make a quick conversion before the polo tournament.

The Hub Cycles will be moving out of the backyard and into a workshop; sharing the space with a custom frame builder.

The workshop is still on Shacklewell Lane, just down the alley way by the west indian restaurant and take away chicken shop. Unit Three.

Hopefully everything will be set up by the end of August.

I will be there on a part time basis at weekends and Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Photos will be up as soon as it is all sorted out.

Mary's Week in Photos

Some of you may know of Mary. 6 weeks ago she had a run in with a van cutting across her on the old kent road, writing off her beloved Dawes. Well after a bit of time we finally got all the parts for her new bike ready. A Surly Steamroller frame set, with an Armourtex powder coat that she proudly built up herself. Fast forward two days and she is taking the bike out on one of her second rides. Heading up towards Angel along the Essex Road a car traveling towards her pulls out right across Mary's path causing her to brake suddenly, flip the bars and end up on the floor. Turns out that the car that was in the wrong was an unmarked police car.

Luckily Mary's injuries weren't as bad as they potentially could have been, she is off the new bike for a few weeks until her hands heal up and her swollen face should go down in a few days.

Mary's main worry was her new Surly which survived the crash with nothing but a tweaked handlebar.

Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill

This is being organised by my house mate Chandra. Please attend, should be a good one.

Female Only Alleycat. Saturday 5th of July 6ish at the Foundry.
A points race in a treasure cat style…but details and lots of surprises to follow.
Men welcome but only at checkpoints…and in drag (no you can’t race in drag)
Women come as your female heroine, come as a man…come as you like but make an effort to dress up (points for costume).
Women of all cycling abilities welcome, this is fun race where its not just about how fast you go, its how much balls you have.
£5 entry all profits going to the LCEF

Just to give you an idea of what happens... it basically involves people coming over to sort out bikes and to enjoy a lovely vegan breakfast by Mary.
The tools are free to use but donations for the breakfast are more than welcomed. Only around a few pounds per person.
It is quite hard to find a vegan breakfast in London, especially for this cheap!

These are some photos from the last OT we had, which was pretty busy!. Normally happens every Sunday between 10:30 and 3pm, unless anything else is going on.

Cyclist killed in Stoke Newington

I have been asked to put together a ghost bike for the scene of the accident.

Wheel Building Classes

Well the past thursday evening and Saturday afternoon has seen 5 peope per day come over for a wheel building class. I hope i can easily say that everyone enjoyed it and learnt how to build wheels for themselves.
Some people built one wheel, others managed to squeeze in two wheels. They all came out pretty well for a first attempt.

Thanks to Dale for volunteering his help and also to Iain for setting the classes up in the first place.
